We received news this morning that Solomon our PBI housefather, went home to be with the Lord.
He has been with Prakash as a housefather for 28 years and will be dearly missed. He was always jovial and I knew I would always get a wave and “Good Morning” from him whenever he saw me. If any of you remember, he lost his eye in a freak accident about six years ago.
He has a wife and three daughters 20, 18 and 12. Sadly, Solomon was the sole breadwinner of the family. Also we found out that the family had no food and had not eaten for days. One of our church pastors arranged for a month of food to be taken to the family.
Solomon had many underlying health issues and Prakash has tried to help in any way possible. He was always very thankful for the assistance. All the staff has been paid throughout the pandemic.
On Thursday morning we received news that Solomon had been taken to the hospital. They had waited four hours for an ambulance. Joy, our General Director, contacted one of our Indian Board members and got Solomon moved into a hospital with oxygen. (Not all hospitals have oxygen due to the number of cases of COVID) He was put on a ventilator.
Because Solomon was in a private hospital the family was able to attend the burial. A Government hospital would have cremated without consent of the family. Again, our staff stepped up and arranged for PPC equipment and transportation for the family and two of them also attended. Solomon and his family had no car.
We don’t know what the future holds for this family, but we will do our best to care for the widow and orphans. Please keep them in your prayers.
