International Women’s Day

What a thrill I had of celebrating International Women’ Day with the RGI girls. They had a full program with speakers, songs, games and of course, snacks.  I felt so honored to be their special speaker and give my now traditional “Tea Cup Talk.”

When I walked into the auditorium, I was pleasantly surprised to see plants and scarfs being used as decoration. Plant the seed and it will grow.

The “Talk” has been requested often since I first gave it several years ago. The principle of Contentment is the thrust of the talk. I want so badly for them to not get caught in the comparison trap. Using Psalms 139:14 as my main scripture. “I will praise you, oh my God, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made . . .” It is my personal life verse and so is always thought provoking to share.

The girls presented handmade floral bouquets to all the teachers and guests. They were given permission to go around campus and gathered flowers. They were so proud of their creations.

After my talk they all played games . . . I laughed so hard . . . three-legged races, spoon and lemons, sit on the balloons, musical chairs. They get down-right-aggressive at these games.

Prizes were given.

I was pleased to see that the collections of toiletries I amass from hotels through out the year were given as the prizes. So worth the effort to bring them here when you see the reaction of the girls upon receiving them. Nupi said that they would probably save the bottles for a long, long time.
The very special treat of Pepsi was served and then I ended the day by teaching the girls how to play Jacks. I had a game I had brought with me and this was the perfect occasion to show them. I haven’t played since I was a teenager, but still got to the sixes before messing up.

Of course, pictures with staff with our bouquets and then one of Nupi and me.

What laughter and enjoyment. I call it a perfect day.
